The High Court (HC) yesterday dropped the writ petition, from cause list, filed by Rafiul Rabbi challenging his candidature rejection in by-poll of Narayanganj-5 constituency.
Following a writ petition, a HC bench comprising Justice Mirza Hussain Haider and Muhammad Khurshid Alam Sarkar passed the order dropping the matter from the cause list.
Advocate Shah Md. Munir Shorif appeared for petitioner in the court.
On June 1, presiding officer of the Election
Commission (EC) rejected nomination form of Rafiul Rabbi in the Narayanganj by-election on the allegation of providing false information at voter supporter form.
Afterwards, he appealed with EC to retain candidature, but his appeal was rejected on June 8.
Later on June 9, he filed the writ petition with the HC against the decision of EC.
