RAB starts spl patrol at N’ganj-5 constituency

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has started special patrol to arrest criminals and recover illegal firearms from yesterday to improve law and order in Narayanganj-5 constituency area that will go for election on June 26.
“We are working with dedication and sincerity to hold the election in a free and fair manner and for that some 11,000 RAB personnel have been entrusted with the task of election duty,” commanding officer of RAB-11 Lt Col Md Anwar Latif Khan said at a press briefing yesterday.
“A control room has already been set up at RAB-11 headquarters to monitor the overall activities centering the election,” he said. The RAB commander requested the inhabitants of Narayanganj-5 constituency to lodge complaints if they have with the control room.
Four candidates are running for the Narayanganj-5 parliamentary constituency by-election. The candidates are: independent candidate former AL lawmaker SM Akram, Jatiya Party candidate Selim Osman, Krishak Sramik Janata League candidate Shafiqul Islam Delowar and independent candidate advocate Mamun Sirajul Majid.
The constituency fell vacant on April 29 at the death of Jatiya Party lawmaker Nasim Osman, elder brother of Selim Osman and AL lawmaker Shamim Osman.
