Rab has so far received 140 complaints against Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed following his arrest on Wednesday over Covid-19 test report forgery.
Of them, 120 complaints were reported through the hotline number Rab opened after they arrested Shahed from Satkhira while he was trying to flee to India.
Rab received 20 other complaints through email, Lt Col Ashique Billah, Rab’s Legal and Media wing director, told The Daily Star.
Shahed embezzled more than Tk 10 crore from the 140 complainants, the Rab official said quoting the victims.
Ashique Billah said the Rab hotline will be open for reporting complaint for two to three days more. Rab will give legal assistance if anyone wants.
The allegations include deceiving people in the name of offering government jobs, non-payment of construction material suppliers, non-payment of bank loans.
Some expatriates and Regent’s employee are among the complainants, Rab said.
On Wednesday, a Rab team arrested Shahed in Satkhira’s Debhata upazila while he was trying to cross a river to flee to India.
He is now on a 10-day remand.
Earlier, a Rab assisted mobile court sealed off Regent Group’s head office and Regent Hospital for Covid-19 test report forgery and charging patients for test and treatment, violating an agreement with the government.
