A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel was killed and another was injured after a truck hit their motorcycle in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Monday.
The deceased was Lance Naik Tariqul Islam, 35, said Major Mehedi Hasan, deputy commander of Rab-15 in Cox’s Bazar.
Major Mehedi said a Teknaf-bound truck from Cox’s Bazar hit the motorcycle in Palongkhali area around 10:00am, leaving Tariqul dead on the spot and Assistant Sub-inspector Kawser, 40, injured.
The injured official was admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports, quoting Rab the official.
Police seized the truck from the spot but its driver managed to flee, said Maruf Ahmed, in-charge of Shahpuri Highway Police camp.
