There is no information of any specific militant attack or sabotage surrounding the Pohela Baishakh venue of Bengali New Year.
RAB Director General Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun said that RAB would deal with any disturbance surrounding the Pohela Baishakh program.
He said this while inspecting the security arrangements at Ramna Batamul on the occasion of Bengali New Year 1429 on Wednesday (April 13) at noon.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, Director of Law and Media Branch of RAB, Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Commander of RAB-3, and Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Momen were also present. The DG said, “In the last two years, we have not been able to celebrate the Pohela Baishakh due to the corona epidemic.” Even, this time, it is being organized on a limited scale.
Police, RAB and other intelligence agencies are working together for maintaining orders marking the event. The RAB will be on high alert regarding eve-teasing and other violence marking the day.
Because every time there is a gathering, there are incidents of harassment of women. For this, RAB’s mobile court will be conducted to prevent such incidents like eve-teasing.
Noted that Pohela Baishakh is going to be observed today across the country after two years in a colorful festival. There will be various New Year events in the capital. The Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University has organized ‘ Monghal Shovajatra and cultural programs. Chayanat will also organize a cultural program at Ramna Batamul.
