UNB, Narayanganj :A local court on Wednesday placed Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) member Lance Corporal Ruhul Amin on a seven-day remand in connection with the sensational seven murders.Senior Judicial Magistrate AHM Shafiqul Islam passed the order when officer-in-charge of the district Detective Branch of police Mamunur Rashid, also investigation officer of two cases filed in connection with the multiple murders, produced him before his court seeking a 10-day remand in one of the cases.Narayanganj Bar Association president Advocate Sakhwat Hossain Khan said the RAB member was put on remand in the case filed by Selina Islam, wife of slain Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam, for killing her husband and four others.Besides, he was shown arrested in the other case filed by Bijoy Kumar Sarker, son-in-law of Chandan Kumar Sarker. Earlier, a joint team of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Narayanganj and Baufal thana police arrested Ruhul from his house at Saneswar village in Baufal upazila early Tuesday. With this, a total of 11 Rab men have so far been arrested in connection with the seven murders.On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. At the same time, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.
