Accusing Rab of indulging in crimes against humanity, BNP on Wednesday said the elite force is now a ghost of Rakhhi Bahini.”Rab is now an evil spirit of Rakkhi Bahini. Rab is also a name of brutal blood-taking and repressive state machinery. The government has turned the Rab into its own mercenary force to carry out killings and misdeeds across the country,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.He came up with the allegation while addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.The BNP leader alleged that no action has been taken against Rab members though they are regularly carrying out crimes against humanity across the country as the government is patronising and protecting them.Expressing dismay over the no visible efforts to arrest the three sacked Rab officials in connection with the Narayanganj seven murders despite the High Court order, he said the government is protecting the Rab officials as one of them is a son-in-law of a minister.Rizvi alleged that removed Rab-11 commanding officer Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad was also involved in making former Laksam BNP MP Hiru and another local BNP leader Humayun disappeared six months back.Family members and the people of Laksam in Comilla now bust into anger demanding the trial of Tareque Sayeed.Asked why BNP is demanding Rab disbandment instead of its reformation, Rizvi said “Rab has now become a killer force and it has tarnished its image and also turned into the symbol of horror. Anxiety and fear cant’ be remove from public mind as long as this force exists. “, he said.Mentioning that the government has turned the entire country into a graveyard by killing people by Rab, he said the current “illegal” regime and those have black money will continue to take people’s lives by the force to implement their evil design and desire if the force remain operative.He alleged Rab has now become a messenger of death to people as the government has been using this force as a weapon of taking its political vendetta. “Rab is now a name of serial killing force and a symbol of horror which has robbed of people’s sleep,” he added.Rizvi alleged that the ruling party men are continuously attacking minority communities and garbing their property.He said Dhaka City unit Awami League’s 41-ward president has grabbed the property of the Hindu community members near Westernkhal at Wari.
