Staff Reporter :
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has busted several hideouts of the misguided ‘Rohingyas in the hilly areas in Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf Upazila by using drones.
At least four hideouts were destroyed during the nearly eight-hour long raid in the hilly areas surrounding the Rohingya camps in the upazila’s Noyapara, Shalbagan and Jadimura areas on Saturday.
However, no arrest was reported during the raid, said RAB-15 CPC-1 Company Commander Lieutenant Mirza Shahed Mahtab. According to RAB, a Rohingya robbery gang led by Abdul Hakim and his accomplices Mohammad Jakir, Kala Selim, Nur Kamal, Builla, Razzak, and Amin built hideouts beneath the hills.
The elite force flew drones over the hills surrounding the Rohingya camps and located several hideouts before carrying out the raids, Lt Mahtab said.
“The hideouts have been demolished and ringleader Hakim and his aides are being hunted down,” he added.
The RAB official, however, said several members of the robbery gang were arrested at different times.
