UNB, Chittagong :
A court here on Sunday rejected the remand petition filed by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) against Barrister Shakila Farzana in connection with a case filed with Hathazari Police Station.
Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Shiplu Kumar Dey rejected the remand plea when RAB filed a petition to interrogate Shakila under their custody for five
days. It also rejected the bail petition filed by her lawyers.
Shakila’s lawyer Adv Abdus Sattar said they opposed the remand petition as she was earlier put on remand in the case and she made her confessional statements before a court Under Section 164.
Adv Abdus Sattar said, the court also asked the medical board formed earlier for her treatment to submit report over her health condition within three days.
On August 24, Hathazari senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Minhaj placed Barrister Shakila on a 48-hour remand and two other lawyers-Hasanuzzaman Liton and adv Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapon on a 72-hour each after they were shown arrested in a case filed with Hathazari Police Station following the arrest of 12 militant suspects from a madrasah of the area on February 19.
Earlier on August 19, a court here put the three lawyers on a four-day remand each in an arms case, a day after their arrest from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on charge of terror financing.
They were shown arrested in an arms case filed in connection with arms recovery from Latmoni hill in Banshkhali upazila on February 21.
