The city of Dhaka and its environs flourished with fake judicial and non-judicial and revenue stamps. Even those fake stamps are being sold through legitimate vendors. As a result, the government is losing revenue as well as people are also suffering.
The RAB-3 and NSI jointly conducted a raid in Motijheel area of the capital and arrested four people, including Farman Ali, the ringleader of the illegal counterfeit judicial and non-judicial stamp revenue stamp.
The other three arrested along with Farman Ali are identified as Tuhin Khan (32), Ashraful Islam (24) and Russell (40).
During the one-day operation, 64,000 counterfeit stamps of different prices were seized from Motijheel alone.

Lieutenant Colonel Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed at a press conference at RAB Media Center in Karwan Bazar on Saturday.
According to the RAB, Tuhin Khan, an associate of Farman Ali, used to sell illegal counterfeit stamps through fraudulent shops in different parts of Motijheel. Ashraful Islam used to work in a mobile phone company. He also started working as an associate of Farman Ali two years ago.
Besides, there is an arms law of 2012 and a kidnapping case against Russell in the capital’s Paltan police station.
The RAB-3 Commander said that Farman Ali Sarkar, the mastermind of the fraud, started his vendor business in 1993 after passing his degree. After that, CID filed a case against Farman Ali at Paltan Police Station in 2017 for cheating with fake judicial and non-judicial revenue stamps. He was also jailed in that case.
Farman was released on bail and involved in the same crime again. He was finally arrested again on Friday.
It was said at the press conference that there were 6,500 stamps worth TK 100, 3,000 stamps worth TK 50, 400 stamps worth TK 30, 500 stamps worth TK 25, 4,000 stamps worth TK 20, 2,500 stamps worth TK 10, 6,500 stamps worth TK 5.
