The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-4) have arrested five miscreants in two separate raid in city’s Pallabi and Saturia of Manikganj in connection with the abduction of a youth named Rana Ahmed (19).
RAB-4 Captain DIG. Mozammel Haque confirmed the matter to the media on Monday Afternoon.
The arrested members of the kidnapping gang are Md. Ashikur Rahman (29) from Rajshahi district, Shah Mohammad Dojahan (22) from Chandpur district, Mithun (18) from Dhaka, Habibur Rahman (28) from Manikganj district and Shariful Islam (32). Among them Ashikur Rahman is the mastermind.
During the arrest,one pistol, one bullet, 98 pieces of yaba, RAB jackets, army ID cards, fake RAB ID cards, sticker with RAB logo and RAB monogrammed Max were seized from them.
DIG Mozammel Haque said, last June 11. A man named Billal Hossain (50) lodged a written complaint at around 2.30 pm that his son Md. Rana Ahmed (19) was picked up by some people in a white microbus in the guise of RAB.
Later, the kidnappers called Billal and demanded a ransom of Tk 15 lakh. On the basis of such allegations, RAB conducted an operation on Sunday (June 12) morning and arrested five members of the gang with weapons and drugs from Sagupta Housing Limited under Pallabi police station and Saturia police station area of Manikganj.
