Mayoral and councilor candidates in Rangpur City Corporation election ended their vote campaign on Thursday midnight amid busy and tough time .
Candidates and their activists and supporters passed a hectic day bringing procession, holding meeting and visiting door to door to drum up support in favor of them with pledges for different development work in the city.
The returning officer office had completed all preparations to hold the poll on December 21. Ballot boxes, papers and necessary documents will be distributed among the presiding officers at police community hall yesterday [Wednesday].
According to the Returning office, some, 193 presiding, 1122 assistant presiding and 2244 polling officers have appointed for 193 vote centers in the city. Of the 193 vote centers some 128 polling centers were identified as vulnerable.
Returning officer, Suvash Chandra Sarker said, we have taken and completed all preparations to hold the poll.
A total of 2231 police personnel, 515 village defense force members have been deployed to maintain law order situation in the polling day. Some 33 executive magistrates remained active to monitor the law and order.
A team of ten law enforcing members led by a sub-inspector of police will guard in 128 each vulnerable center and a team of a team of eight law enforcing members led by a sub-inspector will serve duty in each 65 general vote centers. Some 33 mobile teams comprising ten law enforcing members led by an inspector will remain active in 33 wards of the city corporation area
Some 21 platoon BGB member have been deployed. Of them three remained in reserve and eighteen will be active. RAB teams will be active separately to maintain the law and order situation in the city.
Some 16 striking force team will be active in the entire city. Each team will have 12 police members led by an assistant superintendent of police. Some additional 16 stand-by force led by an inspector have been deployed for two shifts comprising 120 police personnel.
Some 16 stand by teams comprising 176 police personnel led by an inspector each team will remain active before and after the poll day around the city.
Two police teams led by a sub-inspector comprising 18 police personnel will guard the highways in two shifts.
Eight check-posts have been set up in entire city corporation area. Eight police personnel will guard each check post led by a sub-inspector. Some 4 sector parties comprising 28 police personnel will remain active in entire city. An additional superintendent of police will lead each sector party.
A team of six police personnel led by Superintendent of police will monitor the law and order situation.
The returning officer noted that some 11 mobile courts led by eleven executive magistrates will remain active in 33 wards of the city.
