Quota protest: CU students boycott classes

Students of Chattogram University boycotted all classes and examinations on Sunday protesting the Saturday’s attack on members of quota reform movement at Sholasahor in the city.
Anwar Hossain, convener of Chattogram unit of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Council, the platform of students that led the quota reform movement, said expressing solidarity with the central committee, a group of students took position in city’s Sholasahor area on Saturday.
At one stage, a faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) launched an attack on them, leaving two of the protesters injured, he alleged.
The injured-Tofail Ahmed and Arju Mia, co-convener of the council-were given first aid.
Earlier on Saturday, at least six leaders of the central committee of the council were injured in an attack allegedly by some BCL activists on Dhaka University campus. Protesting the attack, the students’ council called for an indefinite boycott of classes and examinations in all universities and colleges across the country from Sunday.
