UNB, Dhaka :
BNP on Tuesday suggested quizzing the authorised officials of the Bangladesh Bank in connection with the heist of $101 million from the Bangladesh Bank’s account with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to unearth its mystery.
“The mystery behind the heist will get debunked if the authorised persons, having the password, physical keys (dongle with certificates), biometrics identification for making transfer order through Swift systems, are quizzed,” said BNP Executive Committee member Shama Obaid. At a media briefing in BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office, Shama presented an analytical review over the heist of $101 million from the Bangladesh Bank’s account on February 4 and 5.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and BNP chairperson’s adviser and former commerce minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion. BNP leaders Dr Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, ASM Hannan Shah,
Abdullah Al Noman, Dr Osman Faruk, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, Abdul Awal Mintoo and Inam Ahmed Chowdhury were, among others, present at the briefing. Shama said, “It can’t be an incident of hacking or a malware. It was rather insiders’ job having the physical access to Swift systems with the password, physical keys and biometrics identification.”
