Staff Reporter :
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader to leave the Ministry before joining the Dhaka City Corporations polls campaign.
He said this while addressing an audience at an event in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday arranged by Bangladesh Sommilito Peshajibi Parishad (BSPP). Road and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said earlier if Fakhrul can take part in the campaigns, why not he?
Fakhrul said addressing Quader, “Of course you can. But before that leave

the Ministry, let’s all participate in the elections together.”
“The law does not allow Ministers and lawmakers to take part in the polls campaign,” he emphasized.
BNP Secretary said, “You may campaign for the Boat and I can do for the Sheaf of Paddy in order to create a level playing field for the upcoming polls.”
Slamming Quader for his comments that Khaleda wasn’t ill enough to warrant advanced treatment abroad, he said that the government must take responsibility if anything happens to the former premier.
Fakhrul said that their Chief Khaleda Zia has been imprisoned in false cases and the government has “encroached on the state mechanism along with the judiciary.”
