An executive of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) was arrested for reportedly leaking question papers for recent recruitment examinations.
Detective Branch of Police (Tejgaon division) arrested Chandra Shekhor Halder alias Milton of 31st BCS cadre and a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), from capital city on Sunday night.
After arrest, Shekhor was produced in the court seeking a seven-day remand for interrogation.
Earlier, on May 13, the written examination was held to recruit 513 posts in Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE).
A candidate named Suman Jowardar was arrested from Eden College that day as 70 MCQ answers were found written in the back of his admit card.
Later, based on the information given by Jowardar, police conducted a drive and held college teacher Saiful Islam from Patuakhali.
DB officials said that the question papers were leaked by Chandra Shekhar Halder. While going to his office, he took pictures and sent it to Saiful Islam on WhatsApp.
According to the concerned sources, former Chhatra League leader Chandra Shekhar formed a powerful syndicate in DSHE. They are involved with multiple irregularities including leaking recruitment exam question papers and transfers.
When asked about this, Additional Commissioner of DB Harun Or Rashid said, “No influential persons will be released due to leakage of questions.” We will arrest those involved.
