QUESTION paper leaks have become epidemic before all public exams, university admission tests, and job recruitment tests during the current administration allegedly by some students and unscrupulous teachers along with office staffs. Detectives in recent times busted dens of criminals involved in the question leakage but the unholy nexus between a vested quarter of teachers and the masterminds are still unscratched. We observed high-tech electronic devices have been used to perpetuate in this regard. On Friday, police detained six students for their alleged involvement in digital forgery during Dhaka University admission test and seized electronic devices. Though such detention and seizures are common during the DU admission tests in the years the authorities failed to make the intake tests spill-proof.
A local daily reported that DU authorities filed a case under Digital Security Act against six persons and their unnamed accomplices in connection with question paper fraudulence of ‘Gha’ unit entry test held on Friday. Law enforcers said the arrestees leaked the question in exchange of three lakh taka. Analyzing the seized electronic device from the suspects, it was found that they shared question through a messenger, WhatsApp and other social media to admission seekers. Earlier in August, intelligence agencies busted question leaking rackets where they found nine people including government officials and teachers were involved. How powerful the gang was could be understood by their capacity to leak out questions and figure-out that by using electronic devices just 10 minutes before the exams began.
Eminent educationists are anxious over the recent spate of question paper leaks that are worsening the country’s education system that is already in a shambles. They urged the government to prevent the menace by taking timely and effective measures before the exams are held. The education system is so broken that it not only does the evaluation inadequately but also gives young ones an early introduction to corruption.
We cannot expect any improvement from a government where the ministers need not to be competent because bureaucrats run the government.
