Detective Branch (DB) of Police picked up seven persons from the city’s Mirpur, Kalabagan and Siddheshwari areas on Friday for their alleged involvement in leaking question papers of recruitment examinations of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) through electronic devices.
The arrested men are Sohel Rana, Mahmudul, Ansarul Islam, Debashis, Rabiul Awal, Rajiur Rahman and Rejaul Karim.
They charged Tk five lakh to 10 lakh from every client to pass in all examinations.
Masudur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this in a press briefing at DMP Media Centre on the Mintoo Road on Saturday morning.
“Among the detained men, Sohel was held earlier for the same charge of offense, but he had secured bail later,” the police official said.
He said they were leaking question papers of different recruitment examinations.
Masudur Rahman said, in the preliminary interrogation, they confessed that they were involved with the leakage of the question papers of DNC recruitment test.”We also found out that among the detainees, three sat for the examination with electronic devices. Later, they sent the question papers to the other four, who solved the problem and send the solutions to their clients, ” according to him.
“We filed a case with Ramna Police Station. We have submitted a request to the court seeking permission for remanding them, ” the DC said.
The DB men recovered USB drives, Bluetooth devices, SIM cards and mobile phones from the possession of the detainees.
