Quality research to maintain food security stressed

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque said that more quality and effective researches should to be conducted to maintain country’s food security in future.
“The government is pleadge-bound to conduct specific research activities to ensure safe and nutritious food for all,” he said.
The minister said this on Tuesday while speaking as chief guest at a view-exchange meeting with an expert panel, for improving the quality of research of National Agricultural Research System (NARS) institutes, organized by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) at its auditorium in the capital.
“Despite the remarkable achievements in agriculture sector, there are many challenges in the way to sustainable agricultural development. To address these challenges, agricultural research strategies need to be determined. Besides, quality research activities and research projects also need to be conducted efficiently at the same time,” he added.
The minister called upon the agricultural researchers and scientists to implement research plans efficiently to ensure safe and nutritious food for the growing population of the country.
With BARC’s Executive Chairman Dr Sheikh Mohammad Bakhtiar in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md Mesbahul Islam.
