Quality public services for good governance stressed

Ensuring quality public services is very important for the sake of good governance and members of the field administration should discharge their duties with utmost sincerity, honesty and patriotic zeal to this end.
Priority should be given to deliver easy, quick and best civic services for substantial and sustainable welfare of the public especially at the grassroots level.
The observation came in a daylong advocacy workshop titled “Public Service Related Innovative Initiatives” held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Office in Rajshahi city on Monday.
Commissioner Office of Rajshahi division organized the workshop in association with Access to Information (A2I) Programme of Prime Minister’s Office. Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the meeting as chief guest with Additional Commissioner (ICT and Development) Jakir Hossain in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader, Deputy Director of Local Government Division Parvej Raihan and Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Shalahuddin conducted the working sessions as resource persons.
During her concept paper presentation, Shaheena Khatun, Innovation Specialist of A2I Programme, highlighted aspects of innovations towards providing quality public services.
She said that the objective of A2I programme is to reach various services of the government digitally to the people easily and quickly.
Nur-Ur-Rahman underscored the need for making public services people- oriented. People-friendly public service is very vital for the hopes and aspirations of the mass people.
He said promotion of innovative services would make the offices people friendly. It would improve transparency and accountability in government offices.
Terming the government officials and employees as the public servants Commissioner Rahman said they should be committed towards the people’s welfare.
More than 90 district level officials and others concerned from all eight districts under the division joined the workshop.
