BSS, Dhaka :
From forefathers to the present generation, children have long been believed to be the future of any nation and if tomorrow’s leaders are raised through proper education, it is within their lessons acquired in life that their potential for leadership starts.
Noted educationist and former Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Professor Abdul Matin Patwary made this observation while inaugurating a daylong convention of the Lions’ Clubs International, Multiple Distirct-315 at a local hotel on Friday.
Past International Director of Lions’ Club International(LCI) Sheikh Kabir Hossain, Past LCI International Director Moslem Ali Khan, LCI International Director Endorsee and FBCCI President Qazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, Council Chairperson M A Rashid Shah Samrat, Convention Chairperson Estiaq Hossain Dider and Past District Governor Nazmul Haque, among others, addressed the function.
Giving more stress upon quality primary education by enlightening the hearts and souls side by side with enriching the minds of today’s kids, the octogenarian educationist said sowing the seeds of real education at the root level produces excellence in intellect when they grow up in course of time.
Referring to the convention’s theme-Education for Excellence- Professor Patwary urged for further expansion of the Lions’ activities by raising their dedicated service in the field of education. “There is no alternative to knowledge to build a civilized society as knowledge is an essential tool for comprehending realities of life,” he said.
Quoting from the Holy Qur’an, the former BUET VC said Islam is the only religion which has made education mandatory for its adherents. Even the first revelation sent to Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) by Almighty Allah also indicates towards knowledge. The Holy Qur’an says, “Read in the name of thy Creator, who created.”
Appreciating various service oriented activities of the Lions
members, particularly in the health and education sectors,
Professor Patwary said they should supplement more efforts
towards promoting true education at the primary level as it would
save all from unrest, degradation, annihilation and
demoralization.
