Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday expressed his hope that the countrymen will be happy when the revised budget will be passed in the parliament.
“The debate that arose centering on budget is good for people. Debate is essential in a democratic set-up,” he told newsmen while visiting the traffic situation in Signboard area here.
About the traffic gridlock, the minister said the maximum cautionary measures have been taken to keep the sufferings of home-bound people within tolerable level.
“Any kind of negligence, irregularity and corruption of Roads and Highways Department will not be tolerated,” he warned.
Quader said over 300 ansar members have been deployed in the capital Dhaka and its surrounding districts to keep the highways free from traffic congestion.
On the occasion, the minister also distributed leaflets among drivers and passengers in the Signboard area to create consciousness about traffic congestion.
High officials of Roads and Highways Department, district police and traffic department were present on the occasion.
