Qawmi Madrasha ulama want to reduce gap with Govt

Ulama-Mashayekhs of Qawmi Madrasas and the government want to reduce gap with each other. Alongside the government, the Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasha Education Board (Befaq) and several other platforms of
Qawmi Madrasas have taken initiative in this regard, sources said.
According to the sources, a meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leaders of the Qawmi Madrasa Education Board will be held soon. The meeting will be a step to reduce gap between the government and the Qawmi Madrashas, said a teacher.
In that meeting, the Qawmi Madrasa’s Ulama-Mashayekhs will urge the PM to take motivation progamme to prevent terrorism and militancy in the name of Islam. The Ulama-Mashayekhs will propose the PM as well as the government to form a 10-member committee of ulama-mashayekhs in every upazila to run the motivation programme in the upazila level.
Maulana Abdul Mazed At-hari, President of Qawmi Madrasha Teachers’ Federation, on Tuesday said that a delegation led by Maulana Abdul Jabbar, Secretary General of the Qawmi Madrasha Education Board, would meet the Prime Minister soon. The schedule of the meeting has not been finalised.
Abdul Mazed At-hari said that they want to help the government prevent terrorism and militancy in the name of Islam. They will place proposal in this regard so that the government can take effective initiative. “We have earlier placed a written proposal to the PM’s office to take motivation programme by forming committee in every upazila. We will renew the proposal through meeting with the PM. We will also discuss the current situation of thr country’s Qawmi Madrasa, ” he said. The Qawmi Madrasa leader, however, said that the government should reduce the distance with Ulama-Mashayekhs of the country.
