Qatar is ready to provide any assistance for Bangladesh in the energy sector including export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and sharing of experiences and technologies.
Qatari Energy and Industry Minister Dr Mohammed Saleh Al Sada came up with the assurance when Bangladesh State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid Bipu paid a courtesy call on him at his office in Doha on Sunday.
The Qatari minister lauded Bangladesh’s socioeconomic development and said despite global economic recession its growth rate is “extraordinary”.
During the meeting, they discussed different issues related to investment and energy sector.The Bangladesh state minister apprised Dr Saleh Al Sada of the development activities that took place under the dynamic stewardship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Seeking Qatari investment in power and energy sectors, Bipu pointed out that an investment-friendly environment is now prevailing in Bangladesh.
They also discussed extension of the tenure of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Qatar on G2G LNG import and cooperation on relevant issues.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Qatar Ashud Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of RasGas, state-owned Qatari LNG company, Mobarak Al Mohanadi and Additional Secretary of Energy and Mineral Resources Division of Bangladesh Ahsan Jabbar were present on the occasion.
