Q-com’s Kabir Nirob sent to jail

A Dhaka court yesterday sent Head of Marketing, E-commerce shop Q-com, RJ Humayun Kabir Nirob to the jail in a fraudulence case.
Magistrate Morshed Al-Mamun Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order on Sunday.
Earlier, Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station Sub-Inspector and Investigation Officer (IO) of the case Ruhul Alim produced Nirob in the court on completion of his one-day remand. He appealed to the court on keep Nirob behind the bar until the investigation is being completed.
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station police arrested Nirob from Nobodoy Housing of Mohammadpur in the city on Friday morning.
He was shown arrested in the fraudulence case filed by a customer on October 7. He is the number 4 accused in the case. Later, Nirob was placed on remand.
Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station’s Additional Commissioner Hafiz Al Faruque told the media that a customer filed a case alleging that he paid for products worth over Tk 5.6 million, but he did not receive the products. He contacted Q-coom office but in vain.
The customer filed the case against six people including Q-com’s Mana-ging Director and RJ Nirob, the police officer said.
Earlier on October 3, the Detective Branch of police arrested Q-com CEO Md Ripon Mia from Dhan-mondi area and he was put on a two-day remand.
Ripon is accused of the fraudulence and in another case filed under the Digital Security Act with Paltan Police Station.
Q-com was founded in 2019. There are allegations that Q-com deceived customers, through advertising to sell products at lower price than market price.
According to the police, Q-com would sell around 100,000 products online. They advertised to sell motorbikes worth Tk 167,000 at a discounted price of Tk 120,000 under catchy offers. But they failed to hand over the products.
