“The PWD is constructing buildings of 35 ministries. The construction work has got speedy even if it refrained from hiring consultants. If consultants are hired, they have no accountability. Now, we can do everything (planning, designing and supervision) while implementing the government’s projects,” said Mohammad Rafiqul Islam.
The Rooppur Atomic Energy Project is one of key fast-track projects of the incumbent government. The PWD has successfully constructed and handed over 3 units of 20-storied residential buildings including electro-mechanical fixtures and furniture as per the demand set by the project’s executing agency. It has acquired the quality certification by independent third party agency and all these have been accomplished within just 13 months.
The remaining 19 similar buildings are under construction at the Rooppur Atomic Energy Project.
