The executive engineer of Public Works Department (Pabna office) was withdrawn on Wednesday over allegations of irregularities in purchasing furniture and other household items for officials and other employees of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
Executive Engineer Masudur Rahman was taken into ‘reserve’, according to a letter signed by the chief engineer of PWD, said Superintendent Engineer of PWD (Pabna Zone) Debashish Chandra Shaha
Masudur Rahman is the Project Director of the Housing Project of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
According to earlier media reports, excessive price was spent for purchasing furniture and other things for the officials and employees of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and the salaries fixed for them were also unusual.
The reports says that the price of a pillow was shown as Tk 5,957 and the cost of its lifting to a flat Tk 760, and the salary of its project-director Tk 4.96 lakh per month.
