PW narrates crimes of 1971 by Mahidur, Chutu

Freedom Fighter Ahasan Habib, 62, on Tuesday submitted his deposition in the trial of Chapainawabganj Razakar duo Mahidur Rahman and Afsar Hossain Chutu, narrating the monstrous crimes they committed in 1971.
Testifying as the first prosecution witness (PW) at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2, Habib said, backed by the Pakistani occupation army, Mahidur, Chutu and their cohorts from Razakar Bahini, raided village Chandshikari in Chapainawabganjon October 6, 1971.
“They apprehended 16/17 people from the village and made them to stand in a line on the field of Binodpur High School. Later Mahidur, Chutu, Gofur Jola shot and killed 12 of those and the rest managed to flee the scene,” Habib said quoting others.
The PW said the Razkars and their Pakistani masters apprehended 20/21 more from that village on the same day but let 6/7 to go away later.
“On October 7, 1971, Razakars including Mahidur, Chutu, Gofur and Moazzem shot at the 14/15 people detained on the day earlier.
All of them except 2 died on the spot. Zakaria and Satu became crippled but are still alive to tell their miseries,” he added.
After the deposition of Habib, defence counsel Mizanul Islam, cross-examined him and the ICT-2 then adjourned the hearing of the trial till today.
The ICT-2 on December 11, 2014, indicted Mahidur and Chutu and framed charges of crimes against humanity against them.
