A new prosecution witness (PW) in the trial of Syed Mohammad Quaiser, charged with committing crimes against humanity during the War of Liberation, on Thursday testified against him at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-2.
Mohammad Ali Pathan, a valiant Freedom Fighter from Madhobpur, Habiganj, testified as PW-4 and described how Quaiser and his accomplices from notorious Quaiser Bahini carried out atrocities in and around Habiganj.
“Quaiser and his men accompanied by Pakistani troops killed 14 to 15 people including my father on April 29, 1971, in Madhobpur Bazar area and Krishnanagar village. Sensing my mental state, Abdul Kuddus Makhon took me Agartala in India and then sent me to Hapania training camp for taking arms training for Liberation War,” the witness said.
After his deposition, Abdus Sobhan Tarafder, counsel for Quaiser, cross-examined him for some time and the ICT-2 then adjourned the hearing till Sunday.
Quaiser, the former state-minister for agriculture was indicted by the ICT-2 on February 2, 2014, for 16 counts of crimes against humanity.
Meanwhile, at the ICT-1, the prosecution concluded cross-examining Asad Ullah, second defence witness in the trial of Mobarak Hossain, alleged Razakar commander from Brahmanbaria.
