Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim on Monday said all private medical colleges are under strict monitoring to comply with conditions of the private medical college policy.
“We are overseeing academic activities of all private medical colleges to improve medical education in the country,” he told a press briefing in the conference room of the ministry here.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malik, Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Prof Dr Qumrul Hasan Khan, Prof Mahmud Hasan, Prof Mohammod Shahidullah, among
others, addressed the press briefing.
Nasim said, “Some private medical colleges were set up ignoring conditions of private medical college policy. We are intensifying our efforts to implement private medical college policy to improve medical education and create brilliant physicians in the country.”
The government is committed to provide better healthcare services bringing disciplines in the entire healthcare sector, he added.
The Health Minister said, “We have involved senior medical professionals, members of civil society and journalists to introduce a good examination system for medical colleges to avert any unfair practices.” With cooperation of all, authorities have been successful to hold medical test without any unwanted incidents, he added.
Prof Azad said, “We would not compromise in case of providing medical education as quality education can produce better healthcare professionals.”
Private medical colleges must be well equipped with adequate infrastructure facilities to provide quality education, he added.
