Miscreants torched a private car on Tuesday evening in the capital’s Dainik Bangla intersection in the wake of Wednesday’s hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami in protest against ICT judgment awarding death sentence to war criminal Azharul Islam.
None was, however injured in the incident, sources said.
Witnesses said that a gang of miscreants set fire on the vehicle in the area around 6:50pm chanting ‘hartal hartal’ and fled away instantly. Police rushed to the spot following information and recovered the microbus from there.
No one was arrested in this connection.
Motijheel Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Proloy Shah confirmed the matter.
