Putul likely to address on Autism April 1

Saima Wazed Putul, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leader of the autism movement is expected to address a discussion scheduled to be held on April 1 marking the World Autism Awareness Day, 2014. Bangladesh Mission, Qatar Mission and Autism Speaks will organize the three-hour panel discussion titled “Autism:
Awareness to Action” from 10 am on April 1 at conference room-4, North Lon Building of the United Nations.
Among others, the UN permanent representatives to Qatar, Bangladesh, India, will present at the discussion. Besides them, the UN representative to Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), DPR of Nigerian Mission and the UN Secretary General’s representative Susana Malcorra will also be present. The discussion will be followed by a launch at Bangabandhu Auditorium of Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN at 820 Second Avenue, Diplomat Centre housed on the fourth floor. The United Nations General Assembly unanimously declared April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day to highlight the need to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder so they can lead full and meaningful lives. In 2008, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability entered into force, reaffirming the fundamental principle of universal human rights for all.
