Long -cherished demand fulfilled: Purbadhala Degree College likely to be nationalised soon

Purbadhala Degree College, an ancient and model educational institution in a rural area of Netrakona district is expected to be nationalized soon after 44 years of it’s inception.
The college’s principal office sources said, meanwhile, the college authority has received a letter on the matters relating to the decision of the college nationalization from the Ministry of Education.
“We are keeping official contact with the concerned officers in the Education Ministry for speedy implementation of the decision”, the sources said.
The long -cherished demand of the local people including the large number of students of the college will be fulfilled after nationalization of the college as an important role could be played by the college for spreading the light of the education as well as flourishing the quality education in the rural areas of the district.
The College was established on the bank of Rajdhola Beel in Purbadhala Upazila Sader under Netrakona district in June 30, 1969. Three local education-lover persons, who got honors degree from Dhaka University, played a vital role in cooperation with a then police officer namely RC Das, who was posted there as officer-in-charge of Purbadhala police station, for establishing the college. The three persons were former principal of the college late Sirajul Islam, vice principal late Abdul Maleque and ex additional secretary Abdur Razzak.
After passing many decades and many problems or barriers on the way to develop the college, Now, the college has been turned into a model educational institution with over four thousand students and 68 teachers and a big two storied academic building and all other facilities as well as congenial academic atmosphere , the principal of the college Mohammad Shahidullah Khan said adding that many development works including construction of the academic building and a modern auditorium and proper sanitation facilities , supplying of pure drinking water to all the class rooms and development of play ground in the college were undertaken for ensuring the congenial academic atmosphere due to whole-hearted cooperation of local parliament member and valiant freedom fighter Waresat Hussain Belal Bir Pratik .
When contacted, local MP and renowned freedom fighter Waresat Hussain Belal Bir-Pratik said that the process of nationalization of the college is going .
“A long-cherished dream of the local people and students will be materialised after nationalization of the college as it will have the capacity to spread the light of quality education to the rural areas easily.
