Local people formed a human chain in the district town demanding release of Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Chairman of Charpata Union Parishad under Daulatkhan Upazila and punishment to the local Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamal Uddin on Wednesday.
Sources said, over 400 people paraded different roads and formed a
human chain in front of K Jahan Shopping Complex at Sadar Road in the town from 10 am to 11 am .
It is alleged that UP Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan went to visit the distribution of rice among the fishermen but local police administration in collusion with the opponent people of the said UP chairman erupted in clash between the two rival groups .Following the situation , local police arrested UP chairman at the instruction of the local UNO Kamal Uddin in the false case .
When contacted UNO said , the chairman was arrested on charge of corruption and later he was removed.
He further said, Acting UP Chairman Md Helal Uddin was supposed to distribute rice among the fishermen but when the sacked UP chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan came there and tried to grab the rice , local people protested it and clash took place there.
During the human chain, former president of Bhola District Chhatra League Mostak Ahmed said, UP Chairman Mosharraf Hossain has a good reputation in the area and he made him victim of conspiracy.
