Gaibandha Correspondent :
A number of guardians formed a human chain on the premises of Purba Ghagoa Govt. Primary School under Tarapur union of Sundarganj upazila on Friday demanding exemplary punishment of the school headmistress for misappropriating stipend money allotted for the students through forgery.
According to sources a total of 117 students are in the school. Of them, some 75 students are brought under stipend activity and each of the students is allowed to get TK 1200 per academic year from the government to continue his/her study without economical trouble.
The stipend money is transferred to the mobile phone numbers of the guardians through Rupali Bank Sure Cash in a bid to ensure transparency and accountability.
And for this, the headmistress prepared a list of the students with guardians’ names and their mobile phone numbers to get the stipend money from the concerned.
But, the headmistress of the school adopted the shelter of forgery and misappropriated the stipend money allotted for 26 students through changing the mobile phone numbers of their guardians.
The headmistress, in the list, used the mobile phone numbers of her father, brother, and sister’s husband including near and dear ones dropping the mobile phone numbers of the guardians.
Ratan Chandra Barman, father of Pollobi Rani who reads in the school, said his mobile phone number is 01930310544 which was provided to the headmistress whenever the list is prepared.
But, the headmistress technically withdrew the money using another mobile phone number 01737614150 resulting he did not get money allotted for his daughter, he lamented.
The guardians one after another made their complaints to the media men about the headmistress who embezzled the stipend money allotted for their 26 children through forgery.
Former chairman of School Managing Committee Badiuzzaman Miah said the headmistress also withdrew TK 40,000 meant for school maintenance through forging his signature in 2017-2018 fiscal.
When contacted, headmistress of the school Rokhsana Begum admitted the offense and said she had used a few mobile phone numbers of her close relatives by which the stipend money was received from the concerned.
