Khulna Citizen Forum (Sacheton Nagorik Samaj, Khulna) and Easy Bike Workers Union jointly organized a human chain programme at Boyra Bazar intersection on Sunday demanding exemplary punishment to the rapist of a child and attackers of the victim’s mother.
An eight-year-old minor girl of Andhirghat area under Harintana Police Station in the city was raped by an identified criminal on November 9. She was admitted to one stop service center at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
Her mother filed a case with Harintana Police Station in this connection. Criminals on Saturday attacked and assaulted mother of the child and threatened her with dire consequence to withdraw the case against the rapist.
The speakers in the human chain demanded immediate arrest of the alleged rapist Liton and his family members for attacking and assaulting mother of the victim.
Chaired by eminent social worker Md. Kamruzzaman, the human chain programme was addressed by acting mayor of KCC Anisur Rahman Biswas, Councilor of KCC Rabeya Fahid Hasna Hena, civil society leaders – Sheikh Abid Ullah, Khondokar Bahauddin, Abdul Halim, Al-Mamun Chowdhury, Ariful Alam Shantu, and Abdul Awal, women leaders – Rosy Islam Nodi, Nasreen Islam and Shanta Islam.
Talking to BSS, Additional Police Commissioner Moniruzzaman Mithu said police continue drives to arrest rapist Liton and attackers of the victim’s mother.
