Punishment of Rajan’s killer demanded

Rights activists on Tuesday staged several protest rallies in the city demanding immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in the gruesome killing of Rajan.
Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, a 13-year old boy of Kumargaon in Sylhet, was beaten to death by a group of men on July 8.
Shishu Kishor Mela, Samajtantrik Chhatra Front, Samajtantrik Mahila Forum and Bigyan Andolan Mancha organised a joint rally in front of Jatiya Press Club in the morning while Shishuder Jonno Foundation, Kendriyo Khelaghor Ashor held their separate protest rallies in front of Jatiya Press Club to press home the demand.
Khelagor president Panna Kayser said, “This incident left us ashamed and shocked as well. We don’t have any word to say anything to Rajan’s mother. We all apologize to his mother demanding immediate arrest of all the killers and their associates.”
Condemning the gruesome killing, Samajtantrik Mahila Forum leader Shampa Basu demanded exemplary punishment of the killers.
Demanding to stop all sorts of child labor and rehabilation for street children, Shishuder Jonno Foundation chairman Muidh Hassan Torit said if the killers of Rajan go unpunished, others will be encouraged to repeat such heinous crime.
