Punishment of killers of student in Jhalakathi demanded

A human chain was formed on Sunday demanding exemplary punishment of the killers of school student in dispute over playing cricket in Jhalakathi.
The programme with a protest procession started from Prosanno Kumar School Kirtipasha Bazar was held in the Kirtipasha Bazar and participated by students, teachers, local elites and mass people.
Dead body of Mehedi Hasan, 12, class-VI student of Kirtipasha Prosanno Kumar School and son of day-labour Anwar Hossain from Belda Khan Village under Keora union of Jhalakathi Sadar upazila recovered from a nearby canal on Friday morning, 16 hour of missing.
Shilmoni Chakma, Jhalakathi Sadar police station officer in charge, said Anwar Hossain, father of the victim, as complainant lodging a case with Jhalakathi Sadar police station against 12 accused on Friday evening alleged that neighbouring Russell, 20, and Rakib, 18, sons of Abdul Halim, recently gave death threats in disputes over playing cricket. It was also informed to their father Halim.
Mehedi was killed after pre-planned abduction by Russell, Rakib, siblings and their father Halim, alleged father of the victim.
Local people nabbing Halim and his sons Russell and Rakib handed over to police and the accused acknowledged their crime before the police. Police now deeply investigating the matter and trying to nab other accused, the OC Jhalakathi PS told.
