Staff Reporter :
The Election Commission (EC) has directed field-level election officials to report against non-compliance of candidates to the directive of removing electoral campaign materials by November 18 for punitive actions.
“Field-level officials were directed to report on this matter. Candidates who didn’t comply will be penalised. Executive Magistrates will see the matter,” EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad said yesterday.
The EC Secretary, however, said that one’s’ candidature will not be cancelled for violation of election ‘Code of Conduct’ with regard to campaigns.
According to election schedule, the deadline for filing nomination papers is November 28, scrutiny on December 2, withdrawal of candidature on December 9 and the poll date is December 30.
As per schedule, final candidates will be allowed to start full swing campaign following allocation of symbols on December 10.
