UNB, Dhaka :Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) on Saturday demanded punishment of those who were involved in the import of rotten wheat.The two parties came up with the demand from a joint-rally they organised in front of Jatiya Press Club.Speaking at the programme, SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman said the government has imported two lakh metric tonnes of rotten wheat worth Tk 400 crore while the farmers of the country are not getting fair price for their wheat.He urged the government to immediately arrest those who are involved in the rotten wheat scam as well as buying wheat from the local growers.He also urged the government to provide interest free loan to farmers who grow wheat.CPB presidium member Laxmi Chakrabarty, its central committee member Ruhin Hossain Prince, and SPB leader Abdur Razzak were also present at the programme.
