Students at Dhaka, Jahangirnagar and Rajshahi Universities yesterday held human chain and protested attack by ruling party student activists on students and teachers in Dhaka University campus on Sunday. Students are also boycotting classes and examinations demanding punishment of the attackers and their safety.
Dhaka University students also demanded resignation of Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani for his inaction against attack on general students spearheading the quota reform movement by ruling party activists and police arrests of student leaders without valid ground.
They held the demonstration wielding the banner ‘Students Against Repression’ wondering how many more torture, repression and police arrest the proctor wants to see before he would take move to save the students. In fact he is shielding the crime to break the movement, they alleged.
They held the rally at Raju Sculpture in the morning and later paraded the campus and also condemned attack on two third-year students of the department of Economics by the ruling party goons.
 Zakaria Hossain, a leader of the quota movement platform threw the question to the proctor saying. “How many incidents will be enough to take action against the perpetrators.” Another speaker, Ety Jahan held Chhatra League responsible for assaulting students throughout the campus and condemned the proctor’s inaction. Students of International Relations Department also form a human chain on the day to protest the assault on their teacher Tanzimuddin Khan on Sunday in the campus. Attack on his particularly sparked outrage in the campus.
In Jahangirnagar University, around 200 students under the banner of “Student- Teacher Unity Platform” brought out a silent procession covering their mouth with black cloth protesting Sunday’s assault on DU teachers and students.
They demanded punishment of the attackers on students at Shaheed Minar premises of the DU after they had brought out a procession to press home their demands.
In Rajshahi University, more than a hundred students of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, formed a human chain at noon protesting the BCL attack.
Earlier on yesterday, pro-Awami League student activists assaulted three teachers of Dhaka University when they tried to save their students from attacks.
