Riddhi Bandhyopadhyay, a multitalented singer from Kolkata, is a versatile singer who not only sang for dramas but also sings in other genres of Bengali music such as Panchokobi and Toppa. She has performed both nationally and on international platforms abroad.
She opened her own organisation under the name of ‘Riddhi- a step of music’ where she began researching on the genre of Panchakobi music and still continues to do so. She also works with ‘Doverland Music Festival’ and ‘Academic Theatre Archive’ as well. She will celebrate her successful career as a Panchakobi singer and performer on May 29.
A solo concert is scheduled to be held at Abanindranath Tagore Gallery, ICCR in Kolkata to be organised by Riddhi’s Music Academy to commemorate 20 years of her blissful career.
Legendary actors and celebrities like Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Nabanita Dev Sen, Gautam Ghosh and others will attend the event.
The organisers also invited noted media personality from Bangladesh Punam Priyam to join the ceremony as a VIP guest.
She will be there to represent Bangladesh and Channel i.
Punam started her journey into the world of media at a very young age. She won the national award four times for singing as a child artist back in 1982 and has also achieved many other notable awards such as Bangabir Osmani Smriti Padak, International Penpal’s Award, Rongdhonu Padak, Jatiya Shishu Puroshkar, Manik Mia Smriti Padak, etc.
Punam joined Channel i as a Programme Producer and television presenter back when the channel opened for the very first time in 1999 and has been working with them ever since. She broadcasted and hosted her very own musical magazine show- Neelanjana which was a popular hit back then and aired for 250 episodes. After this she gathered ideas and planned to produce a celebrity talk show and executed it in 2006 under the name of Rupantar, which became so popular and talked about that it still runs today.
By bringing together and engaging both Kolkata and Bangladesh, Punam believes that this event will create a bond of friendship between these two worls through the art of music.
