A fire broke out at a puffed rice mill at Dhopadanga Bazar in Debhata upazila on Friday night.
Fire service sources said the fire originated from an electric short circuit of Zaman Puffed Rice Mill at the market at about 10:30 am and it soon engulfed the entire the mill.
Informed, two fire fighting units from Sadar and Kaliganj fire service stations rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts with the help of locals.
The extent of loss caused by the fire was estimated at Tk12 lakh.
