Publishing houses did brisk business as huge number of visitors crowded the month-long Amar Ekushey Boi Mela on Saturday.
After opening the Book Fair at 11:00 am visitors crowded the Fair premises. They roam about different stalls and buying their essential books.
However, the Publishers are happy doing brisk business on the day. “We expect the same business the other days like today (Saturday)” said publishers. As yesterday the authority declared as Children’s hours, huge crowd thronged at the fair premises from the morning. Children abuzzed the premises along with their guardians.
Shihab Bahadur, Publisher of Muktochinta Publication told The New Nation that the selling condition of last two days was better. “We expect flow of business will be continuing in future”, he added.
Two hundred and one new books arrived on Saturday, the 11th day of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela and sixty two new books were unveiled on the Nazrul Mancha of Bangla Academy premises. Some of new books are “Ek Mutho Andhar of Rudro Rayihan published by Omoraboti Publication, “Shukhi Manusher Jama” of Probash Amin and “Nirbachito 100 Kobita” of Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam published by Annya Prokash, “Sultan Suleman Ke Dekhbo, Aporna” of Anisul Haque published by Anupom Publication and “Rajakarer Mon” of Muntasir Mamun published by Somoy Publication, among other books.
A discussion titled ” Abdul Gafur Ali: Jibon O Kormo” was held in the main stage of the Bangla Academy. Shamsul Hossain presided over the function, while Nasir Uddin Haider presented the keynote paper. Rahman Nasiruddin and Saimon Jakaria were discussants.
Later, a fascinating cultural function was held in the main stage of Academy.
At 4:00 pm, a discussion titled “Dinesh Chandra Sener Sadharsoto Jonmobarshiki” will be held today (Sunday) in the main stage of Academy. Professor Mohammad Abdul Kayum will preside over the function, while Professor Syed Azizul Haque will present the keynote paper. Mahbubul Haque and M Abdul Alim will participate in the discussion.
