Innovation experts of the Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) have asked the journalists for quicker media reporting on any newer innovation to accelerate national uplift.
They urged media workers for searching newer innovations or ideas at the union, upazila and district levels and bring those into notice of the A2I Innovation Team to flourish those further and use for greater national interests and developments.
The A2I experts made the call while exchanging views with the local upazila and district level working journalists of the print, electronic and online media at Rangpur Circuit House auditorium here on Tuesday evening.
Joint Secretary of the PMO and Director (Innovation) of the A2I Programme Mostafizur Rahman presided over the meeting coordinated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Rangpur Dr ATM Mahbubul Karim.
Taking part in the discussion, Innovation Specialist of the A2I Programme Farhad Zahid Sheikh narrated objectives of the meeting and importance of finding out the newer innovations or ideas taking place at the grassroots levels.
The government through the A2I Programme and concerned ministries has been assisting the innovators and idea breakers to further flourishing and fine-tuning of their innovations for making those more effective to use for national progress, he said.
Director (Innovation) of the A2I Programme Mostafizur Rahman elaborately narrated the tremendous successes so far achieved since 2009 under the programme in reaching all government services easily to the people’s doorsteps.
“We are searching for newer innovations and visiting grassroots areas now to observe and collect those for further flourishing through extending financial assistance to make those scientifically more effective and viable before marketing among people,” he said.
He asked the journalists working at upazila and districts levels for finding out newer innovations from the grassroots levels and filing media reports to present those before the nation for exploring further prospects of those in greater national interests.
He also informed that a Pilot Project is being launched very soon in Rangpur to provide all 17 licenses being issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to the common people easily in a hassle-free manner using digitised online facilities.
Another project has been taken with assistance of city corporations to register pregnant women to enable them in getting automatically updated information on tetanus vaccine and vaccination dates for the newborn babies under EPI programmes by SMS, he said.
“So far, we have received 2,250 proposals form new innovators or idea breakers, accepted 64 proposals and provided Taka 12.40 crore as assistance under the programme,” he said seeking more cooperation of journalists towards the directions.
Assistant Postmaster General of Bangladesh and Attached Government Officer to the A2I Programme at the PMO Khondker Shahnur Sabbir also attended the meeting.
