A publication titled “MONIR” focusing on the unique and significant aspects of the work of Bangladesh-Spanish artist Monirul Islam: Selected Works from 1966 to 2016 will be launched on 19th November at The Lit Fest 2016, Dhaka.
The Lit Fest begins today (Thursday) on Bangla Academy premises. Energis Limited is the gold
sponsor of the two days occasion. This English-language volume is an invaluable introductory reference for students of art and art history and curators of south Asian Modern Art as well as for general readers wishing to gain insight into the essential features of this notable artist’s work. Commissioned by Energis Limited, published by Nokta publishers and designed by head office communications, the 150 page illustrator publication is the first of its kind dedication to looking at all periods and aspects of Monirul Islam’s practice along with reproductions of his works, his biography and a collection of personal photographs.
At the book launch session, Asaduzzaman Nur Minister for cultural Affairs, Government of Bangladesh and artist Monirul Islam will hold a dialogue on the book that will be moderated by Mustafa Zaman, Editor of Depart Magazine and a contributor to the book.
Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Minister for Water Resources, Anwar Hossain Manju, Minister for Environment, Luis Tejada Chacon, Ambassador of Spain, and Javed Hosein, Managing Director of Energies Limited will also attend the event.
