Public, pvt initiatives set example in outsourcing training

In order to develop skilled freelancers, government and private initiatives have set a bright example in providing outsourcing trainings for educated young people in different upazilas of Dhaka district.
With assistance of Thengamara Mohila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS), a non-government organization, Dhaka district administration has taken the encouraging initiative under Local Government Supporting Programme( LGSP) to impart online outsourcing trainings to the unemployed youths, particularly the womenfolk.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah said, “As part of human resource development component under LGSP, we have launched one-month training on online outsourcing this year to create skilled freelancers.”
For the first time, Dhaka district administration and TMSS are jointly arranging the training programme to supplement the efforts to develop efficient freelancers for ensuring their better access to global online outsourcing market. The training programmes have already been arranged in different upazilas including Keraniganj, Savar, Dhamrai and the whole district will be covered soon, he added.
“We are getting good response from the younger generations and taking initiative to give the training programme an institutional shape for its continuation in future,” Tofazzel added.
“Alongside the outsourcing training, we have also arranged a three-month English course for the freelancers to improve their communication skills, which will help them to earn more money from outsourcing,” he added.
Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of TMSS Nigar Sultana said, “Bangladesh will enjoy huge demographic dividend, if we can create ICT efficient workforce. I think online outsourcing could be a very lucrative destination for Bangladesh to earn foreign currency.”
TMSS wants to work with the government to develop highly skilled online freelancers to do better in global outsourcing markets,she said adding, “Taking this into consideration, we are working with Dhaka district administration for introducing one-month outsourcing training for educated young people.”
It is very important to enhance skill on ICT to become good freelancers, Nigar Sultana said adding, “We will offer six-month training on different high-demand IT courses including web-design to increase earnings of freelancers.”
Keraniganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abul Bashar Mohammed Fakhruzzaman said Keraniganj has been selected as the first upazila in the Dhaka district for introducing the one-month outsourcing training under LGSP programme.
First batch of the training has been successfully completed and training of second batch is going on, he said adding the number of trainees of each batch was 35.
“Upazila administration and TMSS are jointly implementing the training programme and we have set a target to provide training to 400 youths at Keraniganj upazila every year to supplement the efforts to remove unemployment problem in the upazila, Faqruzzaman added.
Many of freelancers, who have just completed one-month training, started earnings from outsourcing and other freelancers are getting good response from their potential buyers, he added.
While visiting a training centre at Keraniganj upazila, this correspondent found that after compeleting one month training, enthusiastic new freelancers are participating in three-month language courses to improve their English language skills.
Suny Mandal, masters student of Government Bangla College, Mirpur, told BSS that “I am very excited after completing one month training and now I am attending language class of a three-month course. I hope this language course will help me a lot to build career in online outsourcing.”
“I am getting good response from many buyers to get outsourcing works and I hope I will start my earnings from outsourcing very soon,” he added.
Elija Begum, housewife of Chorai village under Keraniganj upazila, said “During my training period, I started earnings from outsourcing and within a very short time my earnings have reached a handsome amount.” “Along with my fellow freelancers,I am participating in a three-month language course and this course will help me to further enhance my outsourcing income.”
While sharing their experiences and future aims with the news agency, many outsourcing freelancers echoed the sentiment of Suny Mandal and Elija Begum to become successful online freelancers.
