Public meet against Saif Power on Sept 10

Chittagong Port is getting tense over the removal of container operator Saif Power Tech from the Chittagong Port recently with scrapping all deals with the illegally engaged container handling operator.
 With the slogans of’ Safe Port, Resist Saif Power’ under the banner of Bandar Rakkha Parishad , different action programs declared in the meantime. Bandar Rakkha Parishad called a public meeting at Laldighi maidan on September 10 next for not undertaking any actions against the Saif Power Tech .
The decision of the public meeting was taken in the review meeting of BRP held on Friday. The speakers in the review meeting expressed that it is very much sorrowful despite publish of a series of irregularies of the Saif Power but the port authority mysteriously remained silence in this matter.
It was told in the meeting that Saif Power has violated the deal for operating the Dhaka ICD without procuring any equipment and public procurement policy but the concerned authority did not confiscated the earnest money or declare black listed.
The speakers also said Saif Power is conducting operating activities in CCT and NCT of Chittagong Port year after year on DPM basis which is clear violation of govt procurement policy. The meeting also decided to launch legal movement against the irregularities of the Saif Power. Convenor of the BRP and former city Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury presided over it.
Among others President of Chattagram Bandar Karmachari Parishad Momtazuddin, general secretary Wahidullah Sarkar, President of Dock Sramik Union Iskandar Miah, Asstt.secretary Jasimuddin, General Secretary of Marine Contractors Watchmen Sramik Union Monir Hossain were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, BRP will earlier announced 7 days action programs from September 1 next with hunger strike on September 7 infront of Bandar Bhaban.
 Earlier report adds: Convenor of Bandar Rakkha Parishad and former Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury disclosed the observance of Hunger strike in front of port’s main gate on September 7 next to press home their demand of removing the illegal terminal operator Saif Power with declaration of black listed. Meanwhile a 3-day long action programme of wearing the black badge from September 1 next.
The declaration of the action program against the Saif Power was announced from the rally of Sramik-Janata held at Bhandar Bhaban gate on Wednesday by the former Mayor Mohiuddin Chowdhury while addressing the rally as Chief Guest.
