A public lecture on Bangabandhu and a seminar on Food Sustainability were arranged by the East West University (EWU) on Thursday at University campus, Aftabnagar in the capital.
Department of Social Relations of the University organized the public lecture titled ‘Bangobondhu Janaboktrita’. The lecture was delivered by Prof Dr Muntassir Mamoon, Department of History, University of Dhaka. Dr Muntassir Mamoon expressed his satisfaction at the acceptation of the historical speech of Bangabandhu on 07 March 1971 by UNESCO as a world documentary heritage. Prof Mamoon also stressed how Bangabondhu first articulated his idea of Bangladesh as early as 1948, and how he pursued his dream afterwards till it became a reality.
Besides, a seminar on ‘Food Sustainability in the Context of Bangladesh’ was organized by the Department of Business Administration of EWU and the Swedish Institute (SI) Alumni network in Bangladesh. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Md. Nazrul Islam, e- agricultural expert of the donor organization USAID.
Among those attending the seminar and public lecture Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, EWU and the former governor of Bangladesh Bank, Dr Rafiqul Huda Chaudhury, Member of the Board of Trustees, EWU, Prof Dr MM Shahidul Hassan, Vice Chancellor, EWU, Prof Dr Fakrul Alam, Pro-Vice Chancellor, EWU, Mikael Salomonsson, Project Manager, (SI) Alumni network, Swedish Institute. Prof Dr Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, Dean of the faculty of Business and Economics, EWU, Prof Dr Anup Chowdhury, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration and Dr Lutfun Nahar, Chairperson of the Department of Social Relations other faculty members and students of the two departments were also present on the occasions.
