Irregularities, mismanagement in BR: PSC Chairman expresses dissatisfaction

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee (PSC) on Ministry of Railway ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP expressed dissatisfaction over the irregularities, corruptions and mismanagement in Railway East Zone .
The dissatisfaction over the activities in East Zone office was expressed on Thursday while exchanging views with the high officials of East Zone Railway, Chattogram . The senior officials of Railway faced a number of questions on mismanagement from the Chairman and even General Manager Faruk Ahmed could not reply proper answer to the chairman in the meeting.
Additional General Manager Chandan Dey was also present on the occasion among other senior officials including heads of Department.
 The chairman wanted to know the respective works of the concerned department .Chief Estate Officer Ishrat Reza told that out of total railway land of 24,400 acres of land 617 acres now under illegal possessions and no lands are given leased for commercial purpose except agri purpose.
Finance Advisor Kamrun Nahar apprised that the expenditures of Railway is more than incomes. Railway sources said there are 19626 officers and employees are working in East Zone railway. Chief commercial officer apprised the chairman that about 8 to 9% passengers travel without tickets.The lawmaker said there are a numbers of irregularities if properly traced.
 In power sector 20% connections are illegal. About pilperage in Pahartali workshop, tree falling in CRB areas, the concerned officials could not reply properly. Journos alleged that GM Faruk could not be found in phone despited repeated calls. He warns the officlals to become more patriot and dedicated in their respective works
